The nursing field is undergoing rapid change, requiring educators to adapt their skillsets. This study aimed to identify the competencies needed by nursing instructors in the Royal Thai Police’s Police Nursing College during this disruptive era. A survey was conducted among 28 nursing educators. Analysis involved calculating frequencies, percentages, means, and utilizing a modified priority need index.
The study identified 43 essential competencies for nursing instructors categorized into four key areas: learning management, leadership, evidence-based nursing practice, and policing. Further analysis revealed 22 crucial competencies requiring development. These top priorities included, the ability to produce and utilize online learning materials with appropriate copyright adherence, designing creative and tailored learning experiences, adeptness in employing innovative teaching methods to accommodate diverse learner needs, proficiency in managing innovative learning tools and the ability to persuade organizational personnel to see the common goal. Institutions can use these results for comprehensive performance evaluation in all dimensions, design appropriate training activities for nursing instructors, and provide information for prioritizing the development of nursing instructors’ competencies.
