The Effectiveness of Self- Care Education Program for Elderly Using Thai Wisdom in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province

t This research is quasi-experimental. Descriptive analysis method and One-way ANOVA were performed to analyse the effectiveness of using Thai wisdom in elderly’s selfcare program in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province towards elder’s self-care behaviour using Thai wisdom. The study was conducted in accordance with the concept of the PRECEDE MODEL Theory. 53 elders from from a senior school was selected as sample group participate in the program for 8 weeks. The research tools include a questionnaire evaluating personal information knowledge and behaviour in self-care using Thai wisdom, then information. before gathered from questionnaire is processed in order to improve and test on a group of elderly people who have the same characteristics. In addition to the questionnaire, Thai wisdom manual for self-care in daily life and messages was also utilized in the experiment. The manual was sent through the LINE application group for the elderly to follow in taking self-care. Data were collected during September and November 2020. Analysis on level of self-care behaviour using Thai wisdom focuses on 4 areas namely food, exercise, emotions and medicine. during the week. In the 4th week and the 8th week, analysis indicated that during the 4th week after joining the program, the mean behavioural scores of the research group were significantly higher than before entering the program (p>.05).Conclusion: using Thai wisdom in elderly’s self- care program can increase score in self-care behavior using Thai wisdom.
