Abstract

This survey research aimed to study predisposing, enabling, and Reinforcing factors relating to the caring competency of older persons among village health volunteers in Wang Sombun District, Sa Kaeo Province. The samples were 245 of village health volunteers in Wang Sombun District, Sa Kaeo Province were selected by a stratified random sampling technique. The questionnaire was developed by the researcher for data collection. The data were analyzed by using a statistical computer program. Analytical statistics were frequency, percentage, mean, maximum-minimum, standard deviation, and Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient.
The results showed that the participants had high-level scores of caring competencies. The predisposing factors about knowledge and attitude towards caring for older persons were found significantly related to the caring competency of older persons at the level of .01. For the reinforcing factors about perceptions of older person care policy and access to information of older person’s care were found significantly related to caring competency of older persons at the level of .01. For than more the reinforcing factors about family and staff support were found significantly related to caring competency of older persons at the level of .01.
