The sample was 34 elderly caregivers and was divided into experimental and control groups, 17 people each by cluster area random sampling. The experimental group received the 12-week program. The tools used for data collection were 1) Empowerment Program through content validity verification from 5 experts, 2) questionnaires on knowledge, attitudes and skills in caring for the dependent elderly. Confidence of Knowledge and Skills Couder Richardson formula was used = .95 and .73. Attitude was used Cronbach’s alpha coefficient formula = .79 . The data were collected and analyzed using descriptive statistics Wilcoxon Sign Rank test and the Man-Whitney U test. The results of the study found that the experimental group had the mean scores of knowledge, attitude, and skills in caring for dependent elderly people after the experiment than before the experiment and higher than the control group statistically significant level of p<.05 . The recommendations should encourage primary care and related agencies to implement empowerment programs to promote and develop knowledge, attitudes, and skills in caring for dependent elderly people The subsequent studies should explore the effectiveness of caring for the elderly who were cared for by the elderly caregivers who underwent the development of an empowerment program.
