Abstract

This research and development study aimed to explore the situation of sepsis patients caring, to develop Sepsis Patients Caring Model, and to study the effects of Sepsis Patients Caring Model. The sample was divided according to the development phase, which are Phase 1 explore the situation and Phase 2 develop Sepsis Patients Caring Model using the multidisciplinary team 11 people. Phase 3 study the effects of Sepsis Patients Caring Model using the registered nurses who working at the inpatient unit 11 people. The samples were purposive sampling. The content validity index between 0.8 and 1.0 base on index of item objective congruence by five experts and the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient between 0.88 and 0.91. The qualitative data was analyzed by content analysis and the quantitative data analyzed by average, percentage, standard deviation and t-test
The results of this study were as follows. The problems and obstacles of former sepsis patients caring were nursing practice guidelines were not clear, inadequate communication and understand of nursing practices guidelines, lack of continuity on monitor and evaluation of Sepsis patients, The Sepsis Patients Caring Model at Inpatient Unit consists of 3 components (1) Nursing Practice Guidelines for Sepsis Patients Caring (2) Communication and understanding of nursing practice guideline for Sepsis Patients Caring and (3) Monitoring and evaluation of sepsis Patients and 3) The registered nurses rated their nursing practice guidelines and They rated their satisfaction on using this model at the highest level.
