The Effects of Health Promotion Program with Using Health Song and Thai Dance among Older Persons with Hypertension in Community

Abstract

This research was a two-group quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design. The aim was to examine the effects of health promotion program with using health song and Thai dance among older persons with hypertension in the community. The samples consisted of 80 older persons with hypertension in community. Each group included 40 persons. The experimental instrument was effects of a health promotion program using health song and thai dance that was examined for content validity by 3 experts. The Reliability of questionnaire on knowledge and questionnaire on health behavior were .82 and .87 respectively. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and a t-test. The results revealed that the mean knowledge score and Health Behavior score of the experimental group was higher than before the experiment and higher than that the control group at p-valve < .05. The average systolic and diastolic blood pressure of the experimental group was lower than before experiment and lower than that the control group at p-valve < .05. The results also suggested that nurses and healthcare providers should implement this program to promote better health behaviors of older persons with hypertension in the community.
