Effect of the Development of COVID-19 Patients Care System of Inpatient Department: Case Study, Pong Hospital, Phayao Province

Abstract

This action research, aimed to study the effect of the development of COVID-19 patients care system of inpatient department in community hospital. The samples were divided into 2 groups: (1) 70 service recipients who were COVID-19 patients and (2) 33 service providers who were multidisciplinary teams. The research used system theory conceptual framework for development consisting of (1) input were service recipients, service providers, and service system (2) process using the cycle of PAOR comprised of four parts: planning, action, observation and reflection, and (3) output were service recipients, service providers, and service system. Data were analyzed descriptive statistics and paired t-test.

The results revealed that the care system by participation process which connected between inpatient department, families, communities, and partners network consisted of (1) Patient admission process (2) Patients care system of multidisciplinary in inpatient department and (3) Discharge planning process. The stress of service recipients and service providers after going into this system development had a statistical significance difference at .05 level and no adverse incidence was found. Research findings can be improved the quality of care of inpatient department for safety, reduce stress, and prevention of COVID-19 infection of service recipients and service providers.
