The Development of Nutritional Promotion Model by Using Motivation Interviewing among Pregnant Women in ANC Clinic, Regional Health Promotion Center 10, Ubonratchathani

This quasi-experimental research (single group, pre- and post-test) aimed to study the effect of nutritional promotion model among pregnant women by applying motivation interviewing (MI) in ANC Clinic, Regional Health Promotion 10, Ubonratchathani. The participants were selected pregnant women who came to the antenatal clinic for 5 times during 2017-2019. The intervention program was consisting of 5 quality times including, 1) Stimulating awareness of love for yourself and child 2) Reviewing progress of maternal and child health conditions 3) Building confidence, knowing obstacles, 4) Behavioral empowerment from mother to child and 5) the infant health status. Nutrition assessment, self-determination and health planning were using in each interview. The data were collected from antenatal care record and then analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired sample t-test. The finding reveal that most of pregnant women (n = 71) who attended the antenatal care service were first pregnancy 45.1% and when pregnant before 9 weeks, 39.4. The average score of food consumption behavior and the weight of pregnant women was significantly different at the p-value <.001 which effected to decrease a number of underweight newborns. Therefore, it should be developed and expanded to the hospital.
