Abstract

The objectives of this research are to develop and to evaluate the outcomes of the respiratory critical nursing system proposed in the Coronavirus 2019 epidemic. This developmental research was divided into 3 phases. Phase 1: Analyze the situation concerning the present patients with respiratory deterioration nursing system. Phase 2: A respiratory critical nursing system was being developed. Phase 3: Evaluation for the effectiveness of the proposed nursing system. The sample group consisted of (1) 30 professional nurses working in wards for Emerging/Re-emerging Diseases 6/5 between October and December 2021. These samples were chosen through purposeful sampling. (2) 34 critical ill patients who were treated during the same period. Research tools were an interview form, a guideline for the use of mechanical ventilator in respiratory deterioration patients, Nursing knowledge assessment form for respiratory critical nursing care and patient data record form. Data obtained were analyzed by descriptive statistics and Paired Samples t-test.

The study on the effectiveness of the respiratory critical nursing system for patients with respiratory deterioration found that the knowledge scores on the care of patients with respiratory deterioration after using the respiratory intensive care system was significantly higher than before using the system (p<0.05). Assessing the suitability and feasibility of the respiratory critical nursing system was found to be at high-level (mean 3.67). Patient survival rate was 88.3%. No personnel infection was found.
