The Development Elderly Care Indicators in Nursing Homes

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to: 1) develop the elderly care indicators 2) to test the structural validity of the elderly care indicators in nursing homes. under the conceptual framework of Thailand Quality Award Category 7. The study was conducted in two stages: ; (i) the development of the elderly care indicators in nursing homes through literature reviews and in-depth interview, and (ii) to test the structural validity by confirmatory factor analysis. The samples in this study, 230 administrators, professional nurses, nursing home personnel, were selected by a random sampling technique. This study used an in-depth interview form and a questionnaire with a reliability value of 0.89. Content analysis, validity and confirmatory factor analysis were used to examine the data.

The findings revealed the following 23 indicators of five components on elderly care in nursing homes under the framework of Thailand Quality Award as the followings; five indicators on elderly care process results, three indicators on customers results, seven indicators on workforce results, five indicators on leadership and governance results, three indicators on financial, market, and strategy results, respectively. The confirmatory factor analysis also supported the congruency between the models and the empirical data with the statistically significant at 0.05, the component loading at 0.848 – 0.999, x2 = 327.159 , df= 213, x2/df = 1.535, CFI= 0.960, TLI= 0.952, RMSEA= 0.048 and p-value < 0.05 This study’s indicators of the nursing home might be referred to as indicators of the nursing home.
