Abstract

Iron deficiency anemia is a major public health problem in children. This problem may affect children on development, behavior and cell. Prevention is important for iron deficiency anemia. This article aims to present Iron deficiency anemia in children and the Department of Health policy on prevention Iron deficiency anemia by presenting the following issues: 1) Policy of the Department of Health to promote iron 2) effects of iron deficiency 3) Guideline for iron supplementation in early childhood to enable public health personnel to encourage children to receive age-appropriate iron, which will result in a healthy development of children.
