Abstract

The objective of this quasi-experiment research was to study the effectiveness of www.spystopsmoking.com among smoking cessation of people. The study was single-group pre-post design, 7-day intervention and measured 1 and 3 months after intervention. The samples were 30 motorbike taxi drivers and van taxi drivers, who had nicotine level between 0-7. The instrument for collective data was www.spystopsmoking.com and line application for motivating and monitoring smoking behavior. This personal data and smoking behaviors questionnaire measured the number of cigarettes per day to evaluate smoking reduction/cessation or non-changing of their smoking behavior. The instruments had been verified by three professional experts with Index of Item-Objective Congruence 0.66-1.00, respectively, with a Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.96 and 0.90. The data analysis used statistical frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Paired T-Test.

The results showed that: nicotine level and the amount of cigarette per day among smoking drivers, who were intervened, was significantly less than that before intervention (p<.01). The levels of satisfaction to www.spystopsmoking.com were highest (Mean 3.66, SD .42). Suggestion; this website and line application could be used for smoking cessation. The smokers who reduced smoking will be more likely to continuously stop smoking, if extending follow up.
