The Development of Clinical Nursing Practice Guideline for the Patients under Investigation and/or Infected with Coronavirus 2019 (COVID -19) in Emergency Department

The purposes of this research and development study were: 1) to develop a clinical nursing practice guideline for the patients under investigation and/or Infected with Coronavirus 2019 (COVID -19) in emergency department and 2) to evaluate the developed clinical nursing practice guideline for the patients under investigation and/or Infected with Coronavirus 2019 (COVID -19) in emergency department at Faculty of Medicine Vajira Hospital, Navamindradhiraj University. The samples were 30 registered nurses who worked with the patients under investigation and/or Infected with Coronavirus 2019 (COVID -19). The research tools were composed of: 1) the developed clinical nursing practice guideline for the patients under investigation and/or Infected with Coronavirus 2019 (COVID -19) in emergency department. 2) focus group questionnaire. 3) in depth interview questionnaire. and 4) feasibility of CNPG questionnaire. The content validity indexes of these tools were 1.00 1.00 1.00 and 1.00.
The results are as follows. 1) The developed clinical nursing practice guideline for the patients under investigation and/or Infected with Coronavirus 2019 (COVID -19) in emergency department at faculty of medicine Vajira hospital, Navamindradhiraj university consisted of 5 steps as follows: Step 1 Prevention of COVID-19 Step 2 Triage step 3 Nursing management (Primary Survey) Step 4 Assessment of COVID-19 and Step 5 Outcomes assessment (Re-evaluation) 2) The results of applying found that 2.1) Feasibility of The clinical nursing practice guideline was at a high level (mean 2.83 SD 0.36) 2.2) There was no incidence of registered nurses in emergency department infected with COVID-19. Therefore it can be further used as the CNPG in the emergency department for prevention of COVID-19 infection.
