The Effects of A Breast Self-Examination Application on Health Beliefs and Breast Self-Examination in Working Women

Abstract

This study quasi-experimental study aims to identify the effectiveness of Breast self exam application on health belief and breast self examination practice in 30 working age women. Research tool in this study was of Breast self exam application and health belief questionnaire, which consists of perceived susceptibility and severity of breast cancer, perceived benefits and capability of breast self examination, and satisfaction evaluation form. The Cronbach alpha coefficient of 0.845, 0.817, 0.923, 0.847 and 0.842, respectively. Statistical analysis was performed by average, standard deviation, and Dependent t-test. The results revealed that the intervention group, who utilized the Breast self exam application, received higher health belies and precision of breast self examination with statistical significance (p<0.05). The post-intervention satisfaction score of the Breast self exam application is also at the excellence level(mean = 4.22, S.D. = 0.44).
