Effective of Clinical Practice Guidelines for Asthmatic Attack Patients in the Accident and Emergency Department Wihan Daeng Hospital, Saraburi Province

Abstract

The purposes of this research to compare the ratio about emergency visit, and revisit rates within 48 hours in the Accident and Emergency Department, and hospitalization rates of asthmatic patients which the control group receiving usual care, and the experimental group receiving Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) for Acute Exacerbation of Asthmatic Attack Patients in the Accident and Emergency Department. The samples are asthmatic attack patients emergency visit in the Accident and Emergency Department. The experimental group are 11 persons and control group are 14 persons. They were simple randomly and purposive selection by criteria. The research instruments were 1) General questionnaire 2) Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) for Acute Exacerbation of Asthmatic Attack Patients in the Accident and Emergency Department, with content validity of 0.6-1 data analysis were mean, median, standard deviation, and the Mann-Whitney U Test.

The results showed that after treatment, the experimental group were decrease higher than the control group which their emergency visit significantly at the .05 level. But the revisit rate within 48 hours in the Accident and Emergency Department and hospitalization rates of the asthmatic patient both groups were non-significant.
