The Effect of Continuous Care on Body Image among Women After Breast Cancer Mastectomy

This quasi-experimental research to investigate two groups after experiment, aimed to study the effects of continuous care in women after breast cancer mastectomy who had not yet completed chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Furthermore, there are 50 participants with 25 split into two groups. The participants were ages 35-59 years and were treated at Chulabhorn Hospital. Propulsive sampling and matching the similar type of operation, ages and educational background. The research instruments included: the continuous care in breast cancer after mastectomy and body image scale. The reliability statistic Cronbach’s Alpha was .92. The continues care to create the activity for patient and spouse to interact together base on Ahmadi’s concept of continuous care1, The time range of the process is eight week. There are 4 stages, which are introduction, motivation, control and analysis. The data were analyzed by using percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test methods.
The research finding as follows: A women after breast cancer mastectomy follow by continuous care has higher perceive positive body image than the group with regular care by a significance level of .05.
