บทบาทพยาบาลในการลดภาระของผู้ดูแลที่เป็นคู่สมรสผู้สูงอายุที่มีภาวะสมองเสื่อม

การดำเนินของโรคในภาวะสมองเสื่อม ส่งผลให้ความทรงจำของผู้สูงอายุเสื่อมถอยลง ความสามารถในการช่วยเหลือ ตนเองลดลง มีอารมณ์และพฤติกรรมเปลี่ยนแปลงไป ทำให้ผู้สูงอายุที่มีภาวะสมองเสื่อมและผู้ดูแล ที่เป็นคู่สมรสเกิดความไม่เข้าใจ กัน สัมพันธภาพในการใช้ชีวิตคู่ร่วมกันลดลง ผู้ดูแลเกิดความเครียดในการดูแลและเกิดความรู้สึกเป็นภาระ พยาบาลจึงมีบทบาทใน การช่วยเหลือผู้สูงอายุที่มีภาวะสมองเสื่อมให้ได้รับการดูแล ที่เหมาะสมและช่วยลดภาระที่เกิดขึ้นกับผู้ดูแล โดยใช้บทบาทพยาบาล ในการให้ความรู้ความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับภาวะ สมองเสื่อม การให้คำปรึกษา ให้การสนับสนุนทางด้านจิตใจ และช่วยในการประสานงาน ต่างๆ เพื่อให้ผู้ดูแลสามารถให้การดูแลผู้สูงอายุและดูแลตนเองได้อย่างเหมาะสม เกิดความเข้าใจซึ่งกันและกัน ส่งผลต่อสุขภาพกาย ใจที่ดีของผู้ดูแล ซึ่งส่งผลดีต่อทั้งผู้ดูแลและการให้การดูแลผู้สูงอายุที่มีภาวะสมองเสื่อมได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ
