Family and Community Participation in Caring of Chronic Schizophrenic Patients: Study of Nongnasang Community

Abstract

This Mixed method research aims to improve the competency of family and community in caring for Schizophrenic patients. Sample group of 28 people: 10 pairs of persons with Schizophrenia and caregivers, 2 nurses and 6 volunteers. Three Research tools in this study include 1) general information of the sample group 2) community participation activities in caring of chronic Schizophrenic patients using by family support programe, 3) Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS-T). Data were analyzed using Quantitative and Qualitative. The study results showed that, 1) activity that effected schizophrenic patients, and family.the result is a good relationship and reduced for problem in the family. 2) activity that helps schizophrenic patients have good relationships. They are learned to relationships with nurses, care giver and volunteers in community. 3) schizophrenic Patients have self esteem. feel that are important. Can be resolved and successful.
