Abstract

This quasi-experimental study with a two-group pretest-posttest design, aimed to examine the effects of a health preparation program for quality aging among the working-age population in Pa Sao Subdistrict, Mueang District, Uttaradit Province. The sample consisted of 100 working-age individuals aged 45-59 years, with 50 assigned to the experimental group and 50 to the control group. The experimental group participated in the health preparation program for quality aging, which comprised seven sessions conducted over eight weeks. Research instruments included 1) the health preparation program for quality aging, and 2) questionnaires. Data were collected before and after the intervention and analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. Inferential statistics included the paired sample t-test for within-group comparisons and the independent t-test for between-group comparisons, with a statistical significance level set at 0.05.
The results showed that after participating in the program, the experimental group had significantly higher mean scores in knowledge about older people, attitudes toward aging, perceived self-efficacy, social support, and health preparation behaviors compared to both the pre-test scores and the control group (p-value < 0.01). This demonstrates that the developed program is effective in promoting health preparedness for a high-quality transition into old age among the working-age population. Therefore, relevant agencies should organize skills development and educational activities on health preparation for entering seniority so that the working age is aware to prepare for the old age and can continue to have a good quality of life.
