Depression in Chronic Illnesses at the OPD Section in Srinagarind Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University

บทคัดย่อ

Objective: To study the prevalence of depression in patients with chronic Illnesses at the OPD section in Srinagarind Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University
Method: Descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted. Two hundred and eighty three patients from OPD unit of Srinagarind hospital who were diagnoed with DM, CA and HIV during September in 2011 - June in 2012 answered questionnaires on general information and KKU-DI 14 items. The statistical analysis was done using percentage and standard deviation.
Results: 42.05% of the patients with chronic disease were found to have depression, HIV, CA and DM were found 44.7%, 43.3%, 39.6% respectively, Severe of depression was found in patient with HIV, in 14.11%, 6.18% and 1.98 % respectively.
Conclusion: Nearly fifty percent of the patients with chronic disease were found to have depression, hence, the chronic patients should be assessed depression and received psychosocial intervention.
