Abstract

Abstract : We report a case of 69 year old woman with coronary artery disease who needed urgent openheart surgery. The patient was found to be group B, Rh positive with anti-Leb, but crossmatching with 8 units of Levis negative blood gave weak reaction (IAT). The same results were also found in reaction with all panel cells while autocontrol was negative. The patient was identied to be of
rare blood type, Ko with anti-Ku. The cardiac artery bypass graft surgery was successfully done by the cooperation between National Blood Centre, The Thai Red Cross Society and the Japanese Red Cross Society who provided frozen blood of Ko phenotype for the patient.
