การผ่าตัดผ่านกล้อง ได้มีการพัฒนาอย่างต่อเนื่องมากว่า 30 ปี และเป็นที่ยอมรับว่าเป็นทางเลือกหนึ่งสำหรับการผ่าตัดในปัจจุบัน การผ่าตัดผ่านกล้องมีประโยชน์หลายอย่างเช่น ความเจ็บปวดแผลหลังผ่าตัดลดลง เสียเลือดน้อยลงแผลผ่าตัดมีขนาดเล็กสวยงาม อัตราการติดเชื้อแผลผ่าตัดลดลง ฟื้นตัวได้เร็ว จำนวนวันในการนอนโรงพยาบาลสั้นกว่าคุณภาพชีวิตดีขึ้น ภาวะแทรกซ้อนและอัตราการเสียชีวิตหลังผ่าตัดน้อยกว่าเมื่อเทียบกับการผ่าตัดแบบเปิดแผลกว้าง(opened surgery) การผ่าตัดผ่านกล้องได้พัฒนามาตลอดจากการเจาะหลายรู และลดจำนวนรูที่เจาะมาเรื่อยๆ จนล่าสุดเหลือการเจาะเพียงรูเดียวเรียกว่า Laparo-Endoscopic Single Site Surgery (LESS) พยาบาลห้องผ่าตัดต้องพัฒนาความรู้ความสามารถให้ทันกับการพัฒนาของศัลยแพทย์ เพื่อให้การทำงานร่วมกันได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ และผู้ป่วยได้รับประโยชน์สูงสุด

Abstract

Currently, laparoscopic surgery has been accepted as the standard treatment for variety ofsurgical diseases. Numerous pieces of evidence confirm the benefit of laparoscopic managementregarding less pain, less bleeding, shorter hospital stay, faster recovery and better cosmetic resultscompared to open surgery.

However, the laparoscopic procedure usually requires several port placements within the differentsites of the body of patients. With the advancement of techniques, the modification of laparoscopicprocedures is now moving to placement of multiple ports into only one site incision which is calledLaparo-Endoscopic Single Site Surgery (LESS).

Operating nurses play an important role as part of the surgical team during the operation.Therefore, they should develop their knowledge and skills regarding to LESS to scale up beyond thestandard of care.
