การเขียนตำรา ถือเป็นการถ่ายทอดศาสตร์ที่เป็นทั้งความรู้ ประสบการณ์ของผู้เขียน และ/หรือเป็นหลักการ องค์ความรู้หรือทฤษฎี ที่ผู้เขียนต้องการถ่ายทอดไปยังผู้อ่าน ทุกครั้งที่จะเขียนงาน ผู้เขียนต้องคำนึงเสมอว่าจะเขียนเรื่องอะไรกลุ่มเป้าหมายหรือผู้อ่านเป็นใคร และเขียนอย่างไรจึงจะทำให้ผู้อ่านเกิดความรู้ ความเข้าใจ อยากติดตาม และเรียนรู้ในเรื่องที่ผู้เขียนกำลังถ่ายทอด จึงกล่าวได้ว่างานเขียนที่ดีต้องอาศัยศิลปะการเขียนเพื่อนำศาสตร์ที่ผู้เขียนต้องการถ่ายทอดไปสู่ผู้อ่านที่อ่านอยู่ตามลำพัง เหมือนดังกับผู้อ่านนั่งเรียนหรือนั่งพูดคุยอยู่กับผู้เขียน

การเขียนในแต่ละศาสตร์อาจมีลีลาการนำเสนอที่แตกต่างกัน อาทิ งานเขียนทางสังคมศาสตร์มีการเรียงร้อยถ้อยคำ ความสละสลวยของเนื้อหาและภาษาที่ถ่ายทอด ในขณะที่งานเขียนด้านวิทยาศาสตร์จะเน้นกระบวนการพิสูจน์ความมีเหตุมีผลและผลลัพธ์ที่ปรากฏ อย่างไรก็ตาม ไม่ว่าจะเป็นงานเขียนในศาสตร์แขนงใดก็ตาม ต่างก็ต้องมีหลักการเทคนิคและวิธีการในการเขียน ซึ่งงานเขียนจะช่วยบ่งบอกถึงพัฒนาการและคุณค่าของศาสตร์นั้นๆ ในแต่ละยุค และยังเป็นการแสดงหรือสะท้อนถึงภูมิรู้ ภูมิปัญญาของผู้เขียน

ปัจจุบันการถ่ายทอดศาสตร์ในแขนงวิชาต่างๆ ได้มีการพัฒนาไปจากเดิมมาก นอกจากถ่ายทอดผ่านงานเขียนแล้วยังมีการถ่ายทอดผ่านสื่อต่างๆ เช่น สื่ออิเล็คทรอนิค ทั้ง off line เช่น CD, CAI และ on line หรือ e-learning เพื่อช่วยให้ผู้เรียนเกิดความเข้าใจและการเรียนรู้โดยมีช่องทางการปฏิสัมพันธ์เพิ่มขึ้น อย่างไรก็ตามถึงแม้ว่าการพัฒนาสื่อถ่ายทอดศาสตร์ต่างๆ มีมากมายหลายช่องทางขึ้น และการผลิตสื่อ จำเป็นต้องอาศัยหลักการและวิธีการที่ต้องผ่านกระบวนการคิดการออกแบบ และการถ่ายทอดผ่านช่องทางต่างๆ เช่นเดียวกัน

Abstract

Writing textbooks is the art of conveying the writer’s knowledge and experiences and/orprinciples and theory to the reader. Before writing, the writer must always contemplate what the writingwill be about, who the reader will be, and in which manner to write so that the reader would understandand learn from what is written. A good composition is an art form which conveys the message to thelone reader as if the reader is in a classroom or talking to the writer.

Compositions in different fields may require different approaches. For example, social scienceswriting would have fluent and carefully crafted sentences whereas scientific writing focuses on validityand sensibility. However, common to all fields of writing is the need for principle, technique, and a wellplanned method. These writings are evidence of the development and values of their field in each eraand reflects upon the writer’s knowledge and background.

Nowadays, conveying the message in eachfield has vastly improved. Apart fromcommunicating through writing, other mediumsuch as offline electronic medium such as CD, CAIand online mediums or e-learning helps the learnerto better understand the subject at hand throughincreased interaction. However, although there aremore channels through which to communicate,composition still relies on the basic principles,thought-processes, designs, and conveyance.
