Effects of team-based learning with the Line Bot application on knowledge and perceived learning outcomes in routine and environmental care among second year nursing students

Abstract

Background: The aim of the Thai Qualifications Framework for Higher Education in nursing science is to achieve all program learning outcomes. Therefore, an appropriate learning program should be implemented.


Objectives: To study the effects of team-based learning with the Line Bot application on knowledge and perceived learning outcomes in routine and environmental caring among second year nursing students.


Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental study with a one group pretest and posttest design. The sample of 60 nursing students who enrolled in the basic nursing subject was purposively selected. The research instruments composed of: team-based learning with the Line Bot learning program, the knowledge in routine and environmental caring test, and the questionnaire of perceived learning outcomes. Descriptive and paired t-test statistics were used for data analyses.


Results: After learning via the program, the sample had higher of knowledge in routine and environmental caring (M=13.93, SD=2.54) and perceived learning outcomes of ethics and moral (M=4.19, SD=0.81), numerical analysis, communication and information technology skills (M=4.10, SD=0.58), interpersonal skills and responsibility (M=3.77, SD=0.46), and cognitive skills (M=3.52, SD=0.69), all with a significance level (p<.001).


Conclusions: Team-based learning with the Line Bot application impacts knowledge and perceived learning outcomes in routine and environmental caring of the Thai Qualifications Framework for Higher Education among second year nursing students.
