Abstract

Introduction: This study aimed to develop a satisfaction scale on continuous of pharmaceutical care through home visit in primary care service. Methods: The scale was developed by collecting opinion statements related to satisfaction with pharmacy service from the literatures. Content validity of the satisfaction scale was assessed by three experts. The scale is comprised of 20 items. The response format of satisfaction was a 5-point rating scale ranging from 1 (the lowest) to 5 (the highest). The Selt-administered scales were sent to 850 subjects who administer medicines for patients having cancer, psychosis or asthma and elderly (medicine-caretakers). In KhonKaen, Kalasin, Maha Sarakham, RoiEt, Buriram, and Udonthani during July to December 2014. Factor analysis was performed to extract factors of satisfaction on continuous pharmaceutical care through home visit. Principal axis factoring method with oblique rotation were used for factor extraction. Results: After the completion of data collection period, 203 questionnaires were returned, with a response rate of 23.88%. Three factors were extracted. These three factors were able to explain 69.59% of the satisfaction variance. The first factor comprised of 5 questions and was named “satisfaction with drug management”. The second factor comprised of 3 questions and was named “satisfaction with pharmacist’s demeanour”. The third factor comprised 2 questions and was named “satisfaction with treatment outcome”. Reliabilities (Cronbach’s alpha coefficients) of the three factors were 0.823, 0.850 and 0.613, respectively. Conclusions: This satisfaction scale is a reliable scale to measure satisfaction of medicine-caretakers on pharmaceutical care provided by pharmacist during the home visit. Further research is needed to validate the scale in different population.
