Abstract

         The objectives of this descriptive research were 1) to study the level of transcultural nursing competencies of generation Y professional nurses in Krabi hospital, and 2) to analyze the confirmatory factors of transcultural nursing competencies among generation Y professional nurses in Krabi hospital. The sample group was 206 professional nurses of generation Y. The research instrument was the transcultural nursing competencies scale of generation Y professional nurses. The consistency value was verified and achieved between .67 and 1.00 scores. The confidence value was .987, which was analyzed using descriptive statistics and confirmatory factor analysis.

         The research results were as follows: 1) The overall nursing competency in transcultural nursing competencies of generation Y professional nurses was at a high level, and 2) Confirmatory factor analysis of transcultural nursing competencies among generation Y professional nurses consisted of five elements: 1) Awareness, 2) Knowledge, 3) Skills, 4) Encounter, and 5) Desire. The confirmatory factors of the transcultural nursing competencies of generation Y professional nurses were harmonized with the empirical data (gif.latex?\chi2= 68.4, df = 68, gif.latex?\chi2/df = 1.006, p = .464, GFI = .961, AGFI = .922, RMSEA = .005, RMR = .010).
