Abstract

The purpose of this descriptive research was to examine factors affecting role performance of family volunteers in Sukhothai province. The samples were 367 family volunteers in Sukhothai province. They were selected by using a multi-stage sampling technique. In this research, a questionnaire was employed for data collection, Content validity was verified by 3 experts whose indices were between .67-1.00. Cronbach’s alpha coefficient were .94, .98, .97 and .94, respectively. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and stepwise multiple regression analysis.

The results revealed that perception of roles was at a high level. Social support, motivation, and working performance were at a moderate level. The motivation was the strongest predictor of role performance of family volunteers (Beta = .426, p = .000), followed by perception on roles (Beta = .302, p = .000) and other societal positions in the community (Beta = .119, p = .003). These variables can predict the role performance of family volunteers at 45.4% with a significant level of .05. Based on the results of this research, the related stakeholders should involve in creating motivation and perception of role in performances for family volunteers and improve their skills consistently with other societal positions in the community.
