Abstract

This descriptive research aimed to examine needs among family members of children receiving open heart surgery in ICU. Subjects were 127 family members of children who undergone open heart surgery at King Chulalongkorn memorial Hospital. Data were collected using questionnaires consisting of two parts: demographic data record and family needs assessment. Descriptive statistics were used for data analysis. The results showed that the mean total scores of overall needs and mean score on each dimension were at high level. To provide a support of family’s needs, there is a need for the development of nursing intervention.
