THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SELF REGULATION PROGRAM WITH LINE APPLICATION AMONG OVERWEIGHT HEALTH VOLUNTEERS, THARONGCHANG DISTRICT, SURAT THANI PROVINCE

The purpose of this quasi-experimental research were to study the effects of a Self-regulation program with the Line Application on food consumption behaviors, exercise behaviors, body mass index, and a waist circumference of overweight health volunteers at Tharongchang District, Surat Thani Province. The samples were 48 health volunteers who working at Tharongchang District, Surat Thani Province, selected by the simple random sampling technique, and they were divided into the experimental (24) and the control (24) groups. The research instruments included: 1) the self-regulation program which was developed based on the self-regulation concepts of Kanfer (1980), consisting of a lesson plan, a handbook of overweight health volunteers and a self-regulation record form and 2) the food consumption behavior and exercise behavior questionnaires. The reliability coefficients of these two questionnaires were .86 and .90 respectively. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and t-test. The result revealed as follows. After attending the program, food consumption behaviors and exercise behaviors of overweight health volunteers were significantly better than before attending the program, as well as these result were better than the control group (p < .05). Also, body mass index and the waist circumference of the experimental group were significantly less than before attending the program, as well these results were significantly less than the control group (p < .05).
