EFFLECTS OF SAFETY NURSING SUPERVISION MODEL ON PERCEPTION OF NURSING ADVOCACY AMONG PROFESSIONAL NURSES

The purpose of this quasi-experimental research was to compare nursing advocacy on safety practices perceived by professional nurses in the experimental group who received the safety nursing supervision model and control group who received using nursing supervision model. The sample were 40 professional nurses from 300 bed government hospitals. They were randomly assigned to the experimental group (n=20) and control group (n=20) The experimental was nursing supervision model which integrated Proctor’ s concept and safety nursing practice instrument used to collect data was questionnaire on nursing practice advocacy. Mean, standard deviation, independent t-test and dependent t-test were used for analysis.
The results revealed that mean differences of nursing advocacy score of the experimental were higher than those of the control group (t=2.51, p<.05). For the experimental group, the mean score of nursing advocacy after the experiment was higher than mean score before experiment (t=34.90, p<.05). This research results indicate that the experimental model can be implemented in other patient units in government hospital in order to promote safety professional nursing practice.
