Personal factors, Emotional intelligence of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat Nursing Students and Attitudes towards the Preservation of Thai Arts and Culture

Abstract

         The research is aimed to study the attitudes towards the preservation of Thai arts and cultures of nursing students at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University by using a cross-sectional survey. The study samples were consisted of 284 nursing students in academic year  2012. The sample group was selected by simple random sampling. The data were collected by using questionnaires which were tested by using Cronbach Coefficient Alpha Scales. The reliability of questionnaire with the attitude towards the preservation of the Thai arts and cultures is 0.81 whereas the measure of emotional intelligence was 0.89. Data were analyzed by using statistic software packages comprised of percentages, means and standard deviations. Data were tested by using t-test , F-test and Pearson's Correlation Coefficient.

     The results showed the samples that the samples provided a positive attitude towards the preservation of Thai arts and cultures which were quite good and poor equal, 18.3 and 15.1 percent respectively. Emotional intelligence was presented a positive correlation (r = 0.386), good emotional intelligence (r = 0.306), smart (r = 0.445) and happiness (r = 0.275) with the attitudes towards the preservation of         Thai arts and cultures statistically significant (p-value<0.05). Gender, age, years studying,birthplace, number of biological siblings in family, fathers occupation, mothers occupation, parental marital status, and persons residing were not statistically significant with the attitudes towards the preservation of Thai arts and cultures (p-value>0.05).

      The academic institution policy should be promoted the attitudes towards preservation of Thai arts and cultures of nursing students for increasing positive attitudes.
