Factors Influencing Parents' Decision to Vaccinate Their Children Against COVID-19 in Schools under Yala Municipality City

Abstract
This predictive descriptive research aimed to study the relationships between predisposing factors, enabling factors, and reinforcing factors that affected the parents' decision to vaccinate and the predictive power of the parents' decision to vaccinate their children against Coronavirus 2019. The samples were 100 parents of children studying in grades 1 - 6 in schools under Yala Municipality City. The research instrument was a questionnaire with an index of item-objective congruence in the range of .67 - 1.00; KR-20 was .83; and the coefficient alpha was .86. Data were analyzed using the Pearson coefficient and stepwise multiple regression analysis.
The results revealed that the factors that positively correlated with parental decision-making were predisposing factors in knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs (r = .441, .278 and .412, respectively), enabling factors (r = .421), and reinforcing factors (r = .410). These five variables could together predict the power of parents' decision to vaccinate their children by 32.00% (R2 = .320, p-value < .001). The study suggested that local public health officers should efficiently educate and communicate with the parents about the COVID-19 vaccination for children between five to twelve years old to make informed consent decisions for COVID-19 vaccines.
