Factors Related to Self - Care Behaviors in the Situation of the Pandemic of Coronavirus 2019 among People in Chiang Rai Province

Abstract

            This descriptive research aimed at identifying self-care behaviors and assessing the relationship between personal factors and self-care behaviors in the situation of corona virus 2019 epidemic among people residing in Chiang Rai Province. Multistage random sampling was used to recruit 400 participants. The research questionnaires compose of personal data records and questionnaire regarding self-care behaviors in the situation of the pandemic of Corona 2019. The research questionnaire was approved its validity by five experts with the IOC at .60 – 1.00 as well as its reliability was measured using Cronbach alpha coefficient with value at .85. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Chi-square was used to assess the relationship between personal factors and self-care behaviors.


            The findings revealed that their average self-care behaviors score in the situation of corona virus 2019 epidemic was at good level (gif.latex?\bar{x} = 2.54, S.D = .689). In addition, the self-care behaviors was significant related to adequate income (p-value < .05). However, there were no relationship among gender, age, main occupation, extra-occupation, income, number of family members and self-care behaviors. Research suggests that general people should assess their self-efficacy in order to be confident in practicing the healthy/desired behaviors.
