The People Participation on Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever Prevention and Control in Sisaket Province

Abstract
The objective of this cross sectional survey research was to study the people participation on dengue hemorrhagic fever prevention and control in Sisaket Province. The sample consisted of 418 family leader or representative selected by Multi-Stage random sampling. The instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire .Statistics used to analyze data were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Chi-square test and Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient.
The results of studies showed that the people participation on dengue hemorrhagic fever prevention and control was nearly half (46.2 percents) to a great extent, by the common practice to prevent disease (50.7 percent), followed by the destroy mosquito breeding and the plan for dengue prevention and resolution (50.5 and 39.5 percents) respectively. The variables were significantly correlated with the people participation on dengue hemorrhagic fever prevention and control (p-value < 0.05) consist of sex, positive significantly namely, age (r= 0.110) , knowledge on dengue hemorrhagic fever prevention (r = 0.134) , resource availability and resource utilization (r=0.196) and skills on dengue hemorrhagic fever prevention (r=0.248), information received with dengue hemorrhagic fever prevention (r=0.529) and negative significantly namely, family income (r = - 0.147). The rest were not significantly correlated (p-value>0.05) namely , marital status,occupation,education, family member sickness on dengue hemorrhagic fever within 1 year ,attitude toward dengue hemorrhagic fever prevention and perceived related to motivation on dengue hemorrhagic fever prevention.
Promoting participation at individual, household and community levels to improve prevention and control on dengue hemorrhagic fever should be focus on the predisposing, enabling factors and reinforcing factors that correlated with the people participation on dengue hemorrhagic fever prevention and control .
