Lifelong Learning Characteristics of Nursing Students Kuakarun Faculty of Nursing, Navamindradhiraj University

Abstract
Lifelong learning is one of the desired characteristics of nursing students. Kuakarun Faculty of Nursing, Navamindradhiraj University has always been trying to develop such characteristics through the learning inside and outside the classroom for the students of all years of undergraduate education. However, a study on evaluation of the characteristics is not yet available. Therefore, this is a quantitative research study, which is aimed to study lifelong learning characteristics of nursing students of Kuakarun Faculty of Nursing, Navamindradhiraj University in the 2015 academic year. The research population was 671 nursing students of Kuakarun Faculty of Nursing. The data collection was conducted
using the questionnaire on lifelong learning characteristics of nursing students with an IOC validity of 1 and a Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient of .77.
Research Results: The nursing students of Kuakarun Faculty of Nursing was found to have high level of lifelong learning characteristics in total ( = 3.04, S.D = 0.28). All elements of lifelong learning characteristics were at high levels where the element with the highest mean score was Learning Beliefs and Motivation ( = 3.23, S.D = 0.37) followed by Computer Using Skills ( = 3.16,S.D = 0.45) and Participation in Learning Situation ( = 3.03, S.D = 0.41). The element that the mean score was the lowest was Attention to Learning Opportunities ( = 2.74, S.D = 0.35).
Conclusion: Lifelong learning plays an important role in nursing professional. Kuakarun Faculty of Nursing has always been trying to build in their students such characteristics through the learning inside and outside the classroom as well as through the informal learning. The survey results found the students possess high-level of lifelong learning characteristics.
