Abstract

This article will review the role of radiation therapy for cancer of the glottic larynx in both early and locally advanced stages. For early stage disease, radiation therapy plays a major role as a laryngeal preservation treatment with a recommended dose of higher than 2 Gy per fraction or using a hyperfractionation schedule. For locally advanced disease, treatments options are radiation therapy in combination with chemotherapy or targeted therapy, radiotherapy alone with alterfractionation scheme, alterfraction radiation treatment with concurrent chemotherapy or total laryngectomy followed by postoperative radiation therapy with /without chemotherapy
