Application of Three-Dimentional Printing Model in The Panfacial Fractures Treatment : A Case Report
Keywords:
three-dimentional printing model, panfacial fracturesAbstract
Panfacial fracture is a severe and complex type of maxillofacial trauma characterized by multiple fractures involving the upper, middle, and lower regions of the face. Management of this condition is more complicated compared to fractures occurring within a single facial region. The primary objective of treatment is to restore the anatomical form and three-dimensional facial structure, as well as to recover the function of the facial bones and jaws to a state as close as possible to that prior to the injury. At present, the use of three-dimentional printing model has significant benefits in managing such patients. These models facilitate clearer diagnosis of facial bone fractures, as well as assist in surgical planning and preoperative preparation. They help reduce operative time, improve treatment outcomes, and decrease postoperative complications. This article presents a case report of a patient diagnosed with panfacial fracture following a traffic accident. A three-dimentional printing model was applied to aid in diagnosis, surgical planning, and preoperative preparation, thereby reducing procedural complexity and increasing surgical accuracy. A one-year follow-up revealed complete recovery with satisfactory facial appearance and normal functional performance of related structures, comparable to the pre-injury condition. Both the patient and their relatives were satisfied with the treatment outcome. Prevention of such injuries can be achieved through strict adherence to traffic safety regulations.
