Abstract

Filgrastim is a Granulocyte-Colony Stimulating Factors (G-CSF) that makes the bone marrow produces and releases functional neutrophils into the bloodstream. In the dosage form of clear liquid for intravenous injection or subcutaneous injection. G-CSF is used for bone marrow transplantation or hematopoietic stem cells transplantation and used to treat febrile neutropenia caused by chemotherapy. It also used for primary prophylaxis in patients with high risk of febrile neutropenia from chemotherapy medicines that suppress the bone marrow (severe myelosuppressive agents). Moreover It can use for secondary prophylaxis in patients who experienced a neutropemic complication from a prior cycle of chemotherapy. The common side effects of Filgrastim are bone pain, musculoskeletal pain and allergic type reactions, such as dypsnea, shortness of breath, wheezing, skin rash or angioedema. This case report is a patient with dyspnea, chest pain, abdominal pain, arms and legs cramps after receiving primary prophylaxis Filgrastim for ESHAP chemotherapy and these symptoms occurred to this patient for the second time. After assessing the probability of an adverse drug reaction by the Naranjo algorithm, this patient has an allergic reaction of probable level from Filgrastim.
