Abstract

Background: Smoking is a problem at the national and international level, with 42,000 deaths per year, 115 people per day, and 4.7 people per hour, which adversely affects physical health, causing many diseases such as NCDs, causing depression and mental health problems. Family and non-smokers.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the school’s performance in health region 11 that be able to comply with Smoke Free School packages including 7 measures of activities.

 Materials and Methods: The study was gathered from 7 schools in health region 11 with smoke free school evaluating form which was created by Bureau of Tobacco Control, Department of Disease Control and analyzed with descriptive statistic.

 Results: The study indicated that7 schools were able to achieve measure 1-4. However the measures 5-7 had some schools were able to achieve as 4, 3 and 4 schools respectively.

 Conclusions: The result of evaluated smoke free school were not achieve measure 5, 6, 7. Therefore, in order to achieve, measure 5 have to encourage the student to participate in various activities related to non-smoking school. Measures 6 and 7, all sectors must cooperate in activities with the resourced school by working as closely as network team, using the process to analyze the cause of the problem, congregation, plan management and performing together that need to take deep consideration with the context of the area, target and community.
