Abstract
Objective: To report female patient with depressive disorder treated by Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy (STST)
Method: A female patient with depressive disorder treated by antidepressant and individual psychotherapy for 8 sessions, 1.30-2 hours each session, once in 2 weeks during 4 months.
The Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy (STST) is applied to therapy process, plan treatment, goal setting and using 5 essential elements for transformational change; to evaluate the transformational change and to anchor it. The patient was also given homework after each therapy session. The assessment of therapy process is after each therapy session and ongoing throughout therapy from the patientûs changes and verbal feedback.
Result: This patient had transformed both in intrapsychic and interpersonal domains. Regarding the intrapsychic, she had improved her self acceptance, self esteem and accepted her gender
identity and self optimism and also broke off her depressive circle. Regarding the interpersonal relationship, she had transformed her relations with family of origin, been able to have the physical contact to mother and better relationship with brothers. She had been able to approach other people. After 6 months of follow-up, she had been sustained her transformational change.
Conclusion: Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy (STST) is effective to treat patient with deprssive disorder to be congruent and transformed both in intrapsychic and interpersonal relationship with other people and remitted from depressive symptoms.
