Investigations on an outbreak of Dengue Infection in Yang Chai Sub-district, Pho Thong District, Ang Thong Province, April-May 2018

Abstract

On 17th May 2018, Angthong Provincial Health Office had reported that there are 9 patients affected with Dengue Fever appeared at Tambon Yangchai, Amphoe Pho Thong, Angthong Province. From 18 May 2018 to 15 June 2018, the investigation team had been sent to those area to confirm the diagnosis and the outbreak of fever, to find epidemiology and risk factor and to determine of preventive measure of disease control. Study the Epidemiology with descriptive method by 1) Patient’s interviews 2) Review Medical Record 3) Examine patients in studied area 4) Look into the environmental studied area and 5) Confirmed infection by using Serological Testing (RT-PCR) and Immunological Testing (ELISA). The results of investigation found 26 patients. The testing result confirmed by RT-PCR and ELISA found positive 13 of 15 and both Dengue Fever type had detected. Index case was infected form other area and did not inform to the Public Health. Environment has contributed to the spread of disease. House index and container index was higher form standard. The investigation team had provided the knowledges of disease, procedure to eradicated Mosquito and Lai mosquito larvae and establish the Disease Surveillance System by Village Health Volunteer. After 30 May 2018, new affected patients are not found.The reason of the Fever’s outbreak comes from the lack of Surveillance system no positive behavior and high House Index and Container Index.
