Abstract

Abstract: A 29-year-old man, presented with left leg pain and swelling for 3 days with no history of trauma or immobilization. He also expenced low back pain and left thigh tendemess 6 weeks prior to this ilness. Past history was unremarkable except bilateral ureteric stone which he under-went laser surgery 1 1/2 years ago. Physical examination revealed marked swelling of left leg below
inguinal area. No hepatosplenomegaly or lymphadenobathy was detected. Dublex study of both femoral veins was suggestive of partial left femoral vein thrombosis. Chest X-ray showed scattered nodular shadows right lung, possibly metastases or interstitial pneumonia. He was initially treated with unfractionated heparin and then coumadin with good response. Because of his young age,
ur investigations for searching of underlying diseases, included hypercoagulable sta and eventually revealed diagnosis. With proper management, he is now still alive for more than five years. This case is a good example and reminder for thorough wolk-up in young natient with venous thrombosis.
