Abstract

The present study was designed to investigate the effect of Brassica juncea against acidified alcohol (150 mM HCl : Absolute EtOH 40:60 v/v) induced gastritis. The experimental groups were pre-treated with B. juncea extract at concentrations of 125, 250, and 500 mg/kgBW. Positive control group was pre-treated with 20 mg/kgBW of Omeprazole. The results showed that the negative control group that was given HCl/EtOH only had an ulcer area of 0.080.04 mm2. In normal group was received DW have a ulcer area 0.014 mm2. Pre-treated with B. juncea extract can reduce ulcer area when compared with negative control group. From the results, it is concluded that pre-treated with B. juncea extract can decrease an ulcer area induced by HCl/EtOH
