อิทธิพลของข้อมูลข่าวสารต่อพฤติกรรมและการตัดสินใจสูบบุหรี่ไฟฟ้า

งานวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการรับรู้และอิทธิพลของข้อมูลข่าวสารที่มีผลต่อพฤติกรรมการสูบบุหรี่ไฟฟ้าของผู้ที่มีประสบการณ์การสูบ โดยใช้วิธีการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกผ่านทางโทรศัพท์ ระหว่างวันที่ 1-30 กรกฎาคม 2564 คัดเลือกกลุ่มตัวอย่างด้วยวิธีการเลือกแบบก้อนหิมะหรือลูกโซ่ ผลการวิจัยจากผู้สูบบุหรี่ไฟฟ้า จำนวน 27 คน ส่วนใหญ่มีประสบการณ์สูบทั้งบุหรี่ไฟฟ้า และบุหรี่ซิกาแรต วัตถุประสงค์ในการสูบบุหรี่ไฟฟ้า คือ เพื่อช่วยเลิกบุหรี่ซิกาแรต และเนื่องจากผลิตภัณฑ์บุหรี่ไฟฟ้ามีกลิ่นและรสชาติที่ดี มีความสะดวกในการใช้ และมีรูปแบบที่ทันสมัย จึงทำให้ผู้สูบส่วนใหญ่หันมาใช้บุหรี่ไฟฟ้าแม้ว่าจะมีราคาสูง ผู้สูบบุหรี่ไฟฟ้ามักหาข้อมูลก่อนตัดสินใจสูบโดยแหล่งข้อมูลที่ใช้มากที่สุด คือ อินเทอร์เน็ต แม้ว่าผู้สูบส่วนใหญ่ทราบว่าบุหรี่ไฟฟ้าเป็นผลิตภัณฑ์ยาสูบที่ผิดกฎหมายในประเทศไทยแต่ข้อมูลกฎหมายไม่มีผลต่อการตัดสินใจและพฤติกรรมการสูบบุหรี่ไฟฟ้า เช่นเดียวกับข้อมูลความปลอดภัยของบุหรี่ไฟฟ้าที่แม้ว่าจะยังมีข้อมูลไม่แน่ชัด แต่ผู้สูบส่วนใหญ่กลับเชื่อว่าการสูบบุหรี่ไฟฟ้ามีความปลอดภัยมากกว่าการสูบบุหรี่ซิกาแรตและสามารถช่วยให้เลิกสูบบุหรี่ซิกาแรตได้ นอกจากนี้ยังพบว่าผู้สูบส่วนใหญ่ไม่ได้ให้ความสนใจกลไกการทำงานของบุหรี่ไฟฟ้าและมักเลือกน้ำยาบุหรี่ไฟฟ้าจากความชอบในกลิ่นหรือรสชาติมากกว่าระดับความเข้มข้นของนิโคติน อย่างไรก็ตามข้อมูลด้านสุขภาพเป็นชุดข้อมูลที่มีอิทธิพลในการตัดสินใจสูบหรือเลิกสูบบุหรี่ไฟฟ้า ดังนั้น จึงเสนอให้มีการเพิ่มความเข้มงวดในการบังคับใช้กฎหมายกับธุรกิจยาสูบออนไลน์ที่เผยแพร่ข้อมูลโฆษณาเชิญชวนเพื่อจำหน่ายบุหรี่ไฟฟ้ารวมทั้งเพิ่มการประชาสัมพันธ์ข้อมูลด้านสุขภาพที่ชัดเจนและทั่วถึง เพื่อให้ประชาชนมีชุดข้อมูลที่ถูกต้องเพียงพอในการตัดสินใจได้
