Abstract

Femto-LASIK is a form of laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) that uses a femtosecond laser (FS) for corneal fl ap creation instead of a mechanical microkeratome in order to reduce the disadvantages and limitations of the microkeratome. This review summarizes the principles of FS laser in LASIK surgery, the advantages of Femto-LASIK over conventional LASIK, the disadvantages and unique complications of Femto-LASIK, and also how to prepare for the femto- LASIK.
