Aims and Scope

Biomedical Sciences and Clinical Medicine (BSCM) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal that publishes high-quality research across biomedical sciences, clinical medicine, and related health sciences.

The journal aims to bridge biomedical discovery and clinical research, promoting the translation of scientific knowledge into improved understanding of human health, disease, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and healthcare practice.

BSCM welcomes original and scientifically rigorous research with relevance beyond a single institution or setting. The journal particularly encourages interdisciplinary, translational, and collaborative research that connects fundamental biomedical mechanisms with clinical and population health applications.

The journal covers, but is not limited to, the following areas:

Biomedical & Basic Sciences

Molecular and cellular sciences; biochemistry; physiology; pharmacology and drug metabolism; microbiology and microbial pathogenesis; immunology; disease mechanisms; biomarkers; medical laboratory sciences; and other biomedical research relevant to human health and disease.

Clinical Medicine

Clinical research across medical and surgical specialties, including studies of disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, clinical outcomes, medical imaging, and evidence-based clinical practice.

Public & Population Health

Epidemiology; preventive medicine; occupational and environmental health; nutrition; health promotion; population health; healthcare systems; and other research addressing determinants and outcomes of human health.

Nursing, Health Professions & Allied Health Sciences

Nursing; pharmacy; rehabilitation; physical and occupational therapy; medical technology; psychology and mental health; speech-language pathology; health education; and other health professions contributing to patient care and healthcare delivery.

Interdisciplinary & Translational Research

Research integrating biomedical, clinical, and health sciences, including translational studies, multidisciplinary collaborations, diagnostic and therapeutic innovation, precision medicine, and emerging approaches relevant to human health.

BSCM gives priority to manuscripts that demonstrate scientific rigor, originality, broader relevance, and the potential to advance biomedical knowledge, clinical practice, or human health.

The journal publishes articles in English and welcomes submissions from researchers, clinicians, healthcare professionals, and multidisciplinary research teams worldwide.

Articles Types

BSCM publishes Original Articles, Review Articles, Case Reports, Short Communications, and Letters to the Editor.

Peer Review

All manuscripts considered suitable for the journal undergo independent peer review in accordance with BSCM's peer-review policy.

Publication Frequency

BSCM publishes four issues per year, in March, June, September, and December.

Language

All manuscripts must be written in clear and comprehensible English. Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of the language in their manuscripts.

Manuscripts requiring substantial language revision may be returned to the authors for improvement before peer review. Following acceptance, manuscripts may undergo editorial copyediting for clarity, consistency, and journal style.

Publication Charges

BSCM does not charge submission fees, article processing charges (APCs), or publication fees.
There are no charges to authors for submitting or publishing articles in the journal.

Open Access Policy

The Open Access Policy of the BSCM Journal ensures unrestricted access, enabling researchers, scholars, and the general public to access and engage with cutting-edge research findings freely. This approach not only facilitates the exchange of knowledge but also promotes collaboration and innovation across diverse fields. Embracing open access benefits the global research community, enhances visibility, and contributes to information democratization. BSCM actively advances scholarly discourse for an inclusive research landscape.

Ownership and Management

BSCM is **owned and supported by Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University**. Our journal aims to aid academics, researchers, and practitioners in sharing and accessing reliable knowledge and research findings in biomedical sciences and clinical medicine for the benefit of humanity. To achieve this goal, all articles published in the BSCM journal are free for all, without any article processing charges (APC) for authors and no paywall for readers. The journal refrains from marketing and advertising.

BSCM is the official peer-reviewed journal of Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, located at 110 Intawaroros Road, Si Phum, Muang, Chiang Mai 50200, Thailand.

Copyright and Licensing

All articles published in the BSCM journal are fully open-access and are made available free of charge to the reader under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license. Under this license, authors retain ownership of the copyright for their publications and grant BSCM the right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under an Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license that allows others to share copy, and redistribute the material in any medium or format and adapt remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially, with an acknowledgment of the work’s authorship and initial publication in this journal.

Revenue Sources

The entire publication process of the BSCM journal operates without any publication fee. The foundation of our revenue lies in the steadfast support extended by the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University. This support is the backbone of our operations and fosters an environment that motivates scholars and researchers to share their invaluable contributions through our platform.

Advertising

BSCM avoids accepting advertising revenue and does not display any paid advertisements. Instead, the announcement section of the journal is reserved solely for highlighting pertinent academic events. This unique feature aims to support scholars and researchers in the realm of Biomedical Sciences and Clinical Medicine, facilitating the dissemination of information about upcoming academic events of significance.

Direct Marketing

For direct marketing activities, we have established effective communication channels with researchers in pertinent fields. Our outreach efforts encompass a variety of content types, including research articles, review articles, case reports, short communications, and letters to editors. History of Journal

Our journal can be traced back to 1961 when the *Chiang Mai Medical Bulletin initially published articles in the Thai medical literature. It underwent a name change in 2010, becoming the Chiang Mai Medical Journal and expanding its scope to include both Thai and English medical articles. In 2022, the Chiang Mai Medical Journal (ISSN: 2651-2025), established as a Tier 1 journal in the Thai Citation Index (TCI), underwent a transformation process, evolving into the Biomedical Sciences and Clinical Medicine (BSCM) journal. BSCM now exclusively publishes relevant articles on health professions and associated biomedical sciences and clinical medicine in English. Over the past six decades, Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University has steadfastly supported the journal.
