Factors Affecting the Wisdom of Undergraduate Students who Participated in the Buddhist Personal Growth and Counseling Group

Abstract

Objective: To study the factors affecting university students' wisdom after joining the Buddhist Personal Growth and Counseling Group.


Methods: It was a single-group experimental research, receiving experimental variables for a period of time and evaluating after 1 experiment. The sample consisted of 57 Srinakharinwirot University Prasarnmit students, divided into 10 groups of 5 to 7 people, then grouped into 6 groups for approximately 15 hours. The research instruments were the satisfaction assessment form and the PAÑÑÃ scale. The data collection period was between January to May 2019, Data were analyzed by multiple correlation analysis and hierarchical stepwise regression analysis.


Results: The variables affecting the wisdoms of the students who participated in the Buddhist Personal Growth and Counseling Group were Problem Solving/ Adjustment, Satisfaction in Group Time, and Facing Problem, collaboration 8.7%, 12.9%, and 9.3% respectively. The effect size of all 3 predicted variables from the third stepwise of regression equation were .18, .26, and -.33, respectively.


Conclusion: The variables that influenced the wisdom of students in this group were having guidelines for problem solving / adjustment, Satisfaction in Group Time, Facing Problem, and standard score equation as follow:    


                          Z’   =   .18(Solving-Adjustment) + .26(Group Time) - .33(Facing Problem)
