Teaching Method Using Simulation-Based Learning

Simulation-Based Learning (SBL) is a teaching method using simulator. There are several types of SBL including: paper based scenario, role play, single task trainer, desk/table top exercise, mannequin based, mannequin total immersion, environment, virtual reality, standardized patients and hybrid simulators. The objectives of SBL are to improve analytical thinking of learners and to achieve practical outcomes of the course. SBL teaching method involves planning/ preparation and teaching. Teaching consists of three stages 1) pre-brief/ introduction, 2) simulation running, and 3) debriefing. Evaluation of SBL emphasize improving learning outcomes, and self-confidence. Then the learners will be qualified nurses in the future.
