Abstract

Statistics plays a crucial role in research, planning and decision-making in the clinical
and health science research. Up to new, the several research articles published in the national
as well as international journals contain errors in data analysis or interpretation of results, with
the ensuing repercussions on the lower validity and efficiency of the research conducted. The
causes of the problem are related to lacking of appropriate skills, knowledge, and training in
statistics of both researchers and reviewers of clinical and health science journals. Therefore,
this research article covers a brief outline of how the statistical methods are being applied in
the construction of scientific knowledge in clinical and health science research for physician
and health science staffs. The use of appropriate statistical methods involved in carrying
a study including the objectives of research, the measurements of outcome variables,
experimental design, and the number of comparative population. In conclusions,
an understanding of the use of appropriate statistics methods that can be used to estimate
appropriate sample size, reducing error in analysis process, as well as getting statistically
advanced societies to improve decision-making based on adequate evidences.
