Emergency nursing care in septic shock

Abstract

Septic shock is a major health care problem that affects patients resulting in an increased
in health care expenses. At present, septic shock is a primary cause of worldwide mortality in
patients. Septic shock is a syndrome of lower blood perfusion tissue due to organ dysfunction
which can be controlled and minimized by early assessments. Once sepsis is diagnosed,
the appropriate treatment and nursing care will be provided immediately. Patient health
outcome is expected to become recovery without complications after treatment. Emergency
nursing care for septic shock, nurse must be alert to observe, collect data, early detect and
notify physician for urgent treatment using antibiotic within 1 hr after diagnosis including
intravenous fluid administration, vasopressor, and inotropes, monitoring mean arterial
pressure (MAP) and central venous pressure (CVP), oxygen saturation, oxygen therapy,
respiratory support, renal support, and psychosupport. The awareness of sepsis will help
the preparation in treatment and efficientl nursing intervention as the beneficial in patients
and their relatives.
